Showcasing a rich tapestry of cultural expression and heartfelt tributes to the Filipino language, Cebu Technological UniversityโMain Campus marked the 2025 Buwan ng Wika celebration with the theme โPaglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa,โ held on Friday, August 29.
‘Buwan ng Wika 2025’ was successfully hosted by the Sentro ng Wika at Kultura (SWK) – CTU, under the leadership of SWK Director Dr. Fe A. Varona, in collaboration with the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), featuring the Tertulyang Pangwika.
The event was actively participated in by students and faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education (BEED Day and Evening Programs), HUTAWIFIL and KANAFIL who engaged in insightful discussions on enriching the Filipino language. Poetry, cultural presentations, and an oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected officers of the Kultura at Sining, were also featured in the program.
KWF Commissioner and Chairperson Atty. Marites A. Barrios-Taran and guest speaker Dr. Sinfronia Berdin, Public Schools District Supervisor, graced the gathering and shared valuable perspectives and inspiration for continuing the promotion of language and culture. They also emphasized the role of the Filipino language in shaping national unity and fostering cultural pride.
Furthermore, part of this meaningful program were CTU-Main Campus Director Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr., COED Dean Dr. Raymond C. Espina, CAS faculty member Dr. Norly R. Placencia, and Kultura at Sining Chairman Mr. Ariel C. Grijaldo Jr., among others.
This celebration displays CTUโs firm dedication to promoting Filipino and indigenous languages, ending with a strong message of unity rooted in cultural pride and linguistic heritage.
