In a bid to elevate hands-on training with industry-standard tools, Cebu Technological University (CTU) boosted its ties with Shoketsu SMC Corporation through the signing of the supplemental Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on August 7, 2025.
In the MOA, both parties will “exchange knowledge and materials, with CTU having free access to the FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING SYSTEM 200 or FMS200, Pneutrainer 405 for Pneumatic Electropneumatic System and Electric Actuator training system.”
To recall, SMC Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of pneumatic automation components and systems, donated a Flexible Integrated Assembling System to CTU-Main Campus in March 2024. Notably, CTU is the first state university recipient.
Among the obligations stipulated in the MOA, SMC will assist CTU in “enhancing the curriculum to reflect the desired skills to be developed, especially in Mechatronics and Automation.โ And CTU will “provide support, such as venues for training and certification and facility requirements for the training system.”
The signing was led by University President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito, COT Dean Dr. Janice A. Alivio, and Shoketsu SMC Corporation Country Manager Mr. Terry Yeo, together with SMC representatives Mr. James A. Lorezo and Ms. Carmie Nate.
Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Romeo P. Montecillo, Executive Assistant IV Atty. Rodmarc P. Sanchez, and UD for Quality Assurance Dr. Meralei J. Lawas, also attended the MOA signing.
