As part of efforts to uplift the members of the Association of Women in Brgy. Pondol and of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform program in Balamban, Cebu, the Department of Trade and Industry-Cebu, and CTU-Main’s College of Technology led a ‘Upgrading Training on Pattern Drafting and Technical Sewing (Scrub Suit and Pants) Year 2’ community extension project from June 2 to 4, 2025.
The training equipped participants with essential sewing skills through a comprehensive hands-on training headed by Dr. Maria Esther F. Medalla, project leader from CTU-Main, and expert trainer Mr. Joseph D. Arquillano. This in partnership with DTI-Cebu, led by Ms. Lurli Abaรฑo, and in collaboration with the officials of Brgy. Pondol and the Municipality of Balamban, Cebu.
Participants received expert guidance on foundational and advanced sewing techniques, covering body measurements, pattern drafting, garment assembly, embellishments, and finishing processes, with a specific focus on creating scrub suits with V-shaped necklines and pants.
The program consisted of a pre-assessment, practical exercises, and culminated in a certificate ceremony attended by local officials and DTI representatives.
Further, it celebrated the participantsโ growth and the programโs alignment with the CTU-Main’s College of Technologyโs success in delivering outcome-based, market-relevant training that nurtures both technical proficiency and personal development.
