Following its student-centered initiative last August, CTU-Main’s Student Affairs and ServicesโGuidance Services Center (Day Program) reinforced its mental health advocacy by holding a suicide prevention orientation for parents and guardians today, September 6, 2025.
The event, titled ‘Race for Life: Parentsโ Tool for Suicide Prevention,’ was led by Guidance Services Specialist Dr. Josephine A. Villa, who emphasized the crucial role parents or guardians play in noticing early signs of distress and stepping in with informed and compassionate support.
Parents and guardians of first-year students from various courses, alongside CTU graduate school participants, guidance counselors, student interns, and ROTC cadets, came together to support CTUโs initiative on suicide awareness and prevention.
SAS Dean Arch. Ann Frances P. Cabigon and Campus Director Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr. have backed the initiativeโadvancing the universityโs drive to nurture a supportive academic setting that boosts both personal growth and holistic well-being of the students.
True to its compassionate mission, CTU seeks to equip families with the knowledge to identify early red flags of suicide risk among students and take timely, meaningful actionโa commitment clearly reflected in todayโs orientation.
