CTU strengthens international footprint with Kyungdong University partnership, advancing global research and education exchange

In pursuit of stronger international academic linkages, Cebu Technological University (CTU) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with South Korea’s Kyungdong University on Friday, September 12, cementing unified efforts in student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and educational development.

The sealed partnership reflects a mutual commitment by both universities to foster global academic exchange, driven by a shared interest in advancing education, research, and cultural understanding.

In his message, CTU President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing academic excellence.

“With the signing of this MOA, hopefully, we can take off with what we’re trying to join hand in hand toward realizing our shared goals for both universities,” Dr. Pepito said.

Under the MOA, both institutions have committed to collaborating in the following areas: the exchange of academic materials and publications, faculty member exchanges, joint research initiatives and symposium organization, student exchange programs, and the joint development and implementation of educational programs.

Dr. Chun Sung Yong, President of Kyungdong University, along with his esteemed delegation, engaged in a dynamic dialogue with CTU students from diverse academic disciplines on September 11. The exchange, with CHED officials taking part, underlined students’ keen interest in South Korea’s education system, cultural heritage, language, and career prospects.

“We were trying to be good for students…our number one priority in Korea is students’ success, that’s why we’re trying to give the best opportunities for students to have their chance to grow,” said Dr. Chun.

South Korea and the Philippines have long shared a strong alliance, making Kyungdong University and CTU a fitting match for academic collaboration, as stressed by Dr. Rhodora G. Magan, Presidential Strategist for Global Discourse Leadership and UD for IAI.

The move marks another step in CTU’s drive to become a globally competitive institution—one rooted in excellence, cross-border ties, and future-ready education.
