GAD chairpersons integrate HGDG, PIMME tools to boost gender-inclusive initiatives

In line with Cebu Technological University’s active push for Gender and Development (GAD) integration across all functions, chairpersons from various campuses gathered from September 15 to 16 to discuss and implement gender-responsive programs, activities, and projects (PAPs).

Using Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) and the Project Implementation, Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PIMME) tools, the university will effectively integrate gender perspectives across all stages of program and project development.

GAD University Director Dr. Mary Jane C. Sim stressed that the deepening session on the HGDG and PIMME tools, together with the university directors, aimed to fortify gender integration in institutional programs and projects.

“This is organized to enhance the capacity of Cebu Technological University in advancing gender-responsive governance and development practices,” said Dr. Sim.

She highlighted that the GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) has three categories: client-focused activities, organization-focused activities, and attribution, which covers GAD-related initiatives led by other units or offices that support mainstreaming and can be reported.

Ms. Maria Enriquita Myrel M. Siason, a member of the National GAD Resource Pool from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), discussed the HGDG checklist, which is vital in integrating gender perspectives into project formulation.

“We also aim to build a community of practice within the university that is committed to mainstreaming GAD principles across all pillars—academic, administrative, and institutional functions,” she said.

To recall, GAD chairs convened at CTU-Tuburan Campus from September 10 to 12 for the third quarterly meeting of the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS).

This initiative not only boosts CTU’s internal GAD framework but also propels the university toward becoming a gender-responsive institution both nationally and globally.
