The Oman College of Health and Sciences (OCHS) held up its end of the deal by engaging on-site with Cebu Technological University (CTU), despite the typhoon warning, in celebration of the latter’s 16th University Anniversary.
On the heels of the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 10 (which marked CTU’s first linkage in the Arab world), the interactive session on November 11was an immediate offshoot of the agreement, crystallizing the health sciences agenda.
It drew students and faculty from the College of Nursing and medical staff from across CTU campuses.
OCHS representatives, Director Dhiyab Al-Waail and Associate Dean Dr. Salma Al-Zazeedi, used the “Oman Beauty” campaign and provided guidance on leveraging OCHS scholarly services, emphasizing career prospects and professional pathways in Oman.
Beyond gaining valuable insights from the program, over 50 attendees were treated to a taste of the Omani desert.
CTU’s internationalization arm is looking forward to receiving names from the College to nominate qualified applicants for outbound mobility in the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.
Over the next five years, the partnership will facilitate student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and a range of professional development programs, laying a foundation for sustained growth in CTU’s health sciences sector.
In the days leading up to the event, CTU President Dr. Joseph Pepito and OCHS Dean Dr. Fahad Al-Zadjali held online meetings to streamline a shared vision for how the two institutions can impact the health sciences sector in both Oman and the Philippines, countries with a longstanding history of harmonious diplomatic relations.
CTU’s College of Nursing was established on June 4, 1970, and has been in consortium with CTU since March 1991, consistently achieving a 100% passing rate in the National Licensure Examination (NLE). OCHS was established through Royal Decree #18/2018 as a result of the integration of various academic institutions under Oman’s Ministry of Health. /Internationalization and ASEAN Integration
