Chaebol-Owned Inje University in Busan Opens Multiple Pathways for CTU

Dr. Rev. Dae Hee Lee and Inje University Executives memorialize budding friendship with CTU President Dr. Joseph Pepito in Busan.

Following the QS Asia Pacific 2025 conference in Seoul, the Cebu Technological University (CTU) delegation traveled early to Busan on November 7th for a high-stakes meeting, on layered paradigms, with officials from Inje University (IU), one of South Korea’s most prominent chaebol-owned institutions.

The dialogue between CTU and IU  leadership resulted in a commitment to pursue student and faculty mobility programs. Both sides agreed to commence the first exchange cycle in January 2026, with provisions for collaborative research, innovation activities, and sustained academic engagement.

IU, which owns and operates nine hospitals across South Korea, presents significant opportunities for CTU nursing students to gain exposure and training in advanced healthcare settings.

Beyond nursing, IU’s academic offerings in engineering, business, design, and artificial intelligence (AI) further broaden the collaboration’s scope. The institution is currently among Korea’s top recipients of government investment for AI development, opening possibilities for joint initiatives in digital transformation and smart technology research.

A strategic highlight of the discussion is IU’s offer of unlimited exchange slots for CTU graphics and design students. Graduates will have the chance to work in South Korea for up to two years under university-facilitated placements and may subsequently qualify for a work permit, ensuring enhanced global employability for CTU alumni.

The mélange of  academic mobility and industry-linked opportunities will definitely prepare students and faculty to thrive in a globally connected, innovation-driven environment.

All of the aforesaid benefits are inhered in the agreement  in the pipeline, which caricatures the advancement in CTU’s internationalization efforts.

CTU President Dr. Joseph Pepito, Vice President for Finance Dr. Ramel Genobiagon, and Director for Internationalization and ASEAN Integration Dr. Rhodora Magan created a  broader initiative to maximize the institution’s presence in Korea during the one-week stint./Internationalization and ASEAN Integration
