Upholding its role as a CDIO Recognized Collaborator, Cebu Technological University (CTU), through its CDIO Program Management Team (PMT), conducted a three-day training and orientation on the Conceive–Design–Implement–Operate (CDIO) at Bohol Northern Star College (BNSC) in Ubay, Bohol, from October 22 to 24, 2025.
The activity aimed to promote and cascade CDIO principles to partner institutions seeking to enhance their engineering and technology education frameworks.
The CTU CDIO PMT, headed by Dr. Ve Leslie E. Atanoza, led the series of lectures and interactive sessions. Dr. Atanoza provided an overview of CDIO’s brief history, emphasizing its global evolution and significance in modern engineering education.
Moreover, he discussed the current educational landscape and the emerging challenges faced by higher education institutions in adapting to rapid technological change. His presentation emphasized CDIO’s core features, stressing its role in curriculum redesign to align academic programs with real-world industry practices.
Complementing Dr. Atanoza’s discussions, the other PMT members, Engr. Al Emmanuel Caballes, Engr. Delfa Castilla, and Engr. Teresita Capin facilitated a series of workshops and presentations focusing on the 12 CDIO Standards and their practical application in curriculum development, teaching, learning, and assessment.
Participants actively engaged in the sessions, gaining deeper insight into how CDIO principles can be adapted to their institutional contexts.
The event drew participation from BNSC faculty members, led by Mrs. Elvie Ranollo, Vice President for Academics, and CTU’s Dr. Maria Elena Aparente, Dean of the College of Technology. Their active participation reflected the institution’s commitment to quality and innovation in engineering and technology education.
In joint commitment, CTU continues to uphold its mandate to advance the CDIO framework among academic institutions in the region.
Ultimately, this initiative not only boosts partnerships but also advances the mission forward of producing graduates equipped to thrive in today’s dynamic workforce.
