Cebu Technological University – Carmen Campus has completed the assessment of its Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) program conducted by the International Association of Maritime Universities – Peer Assisted Self-Evaluation Scheme Philippines (IAMU-PAES-P) on November 17–18, 2025.
The two-day evaluation examined key components of the BSMarE program, including curriculum implementation, faculty competence, facilities, student support services, and alignment with international maritime education standards. Evaluators conducted interviews, document reviews, and on-site walkthroughs to thoroughly assess the program’s quality.
Leading the assessment were IAMU-PAES-P representatives Srđan Žuškin of the University of Rijeka’s Faculty of Maritime Studies in Croatia and İsmail Çiçek of Istanbul Technical University’s Maritime Faculty in Turkey.
The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) also took part in the evaluation, represented by Victoria Ann E. Dela Cruz, Senior MIDS, and Ms. Presca Lee B. Lugo, MET Standards Supervisor.
Dr. Anthony S. Ilano, CTU Carmen Campus Director, and Ms. Bernadette F. Mante, Quality Management Representative Officer, formally welcomed the evaluators and expressed the university’s commitment to continuous improvement in maritime education.
This successful assessment marks another major milestone in CTU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its maritime programs and produce globally competitive marine engineers equipped to meet the demands of the international maritime industry.
