CTU looks toward the South Caucasus Region with Azerbaijan

Cebu Technological University continues to expand its international network, now reaching the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), following Dr. Rhodora Magan’s meeting with UNEC Rector Prof. Adalat Muradov and Vice Rector for International Relations and Programs, Dr. Huseyn Hasanov.

The high-level dialogue took place on the sidelines of the AppliedHE Xchange 2025 in Malaysia, on November 27–29, 2025.

Rector Muradov, as Dr. Magan shared in a statement to Information, Communications and Public Affairs (ICPA), expressed his enthusiasm that UNEC will finally have its first partner institution in the Philippines.

Dr. Hasanov, who discussed further details with Dr. Magan, highlighted how the developing relationship between CTU and UNEC could yield significant outcomes in the coming months.

Apart from UNEC, Dr. Magan also connected with several other universities across Asia. Additionally, her participation included both a debate session and a panel discussion focusing on the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on today’s educational landscape.

Dr. Meralei Lawas , CTU Quality Assurance Director, also spoke at the event, articulating the country report on AI utilization among HEIs.

Maximizing CTU’s engagement at the all-Asian event was a ‘tabletop showcase’ manned by Dr. Jana Gloria Almerino, HRMO Supervisor, which allowed more event participants to deepen their knowledge on CTU’s fabric.

Mandy Mok, CEO of AppliedHE Xchange, who introduced the ranking methodology to CTU, co-organized the event with Sunway University, one of Malaysia’s leading higher education institutions./Internationalization and ASEAN Integration
