CTU Main-COED, DOJ Cebu culminate Project LABANG 2025, empowering parolees and probationers

Cebu Technological University–Main Campus, College of Education marked the culmination of Project LABANG (Livelihood Assistance for Building Awareness and Nurturing Growth) during the year-end gathering of the Department of Justice–Cebu City Parole and Probation Office No. 1 on November 28.

The beneficiaries evaluated the programs’ overall impact, reflecting on how each session contributed to their personal healing and growth.

As the project team reflected on possibilities for continuation, one beneficiary shared a firm commitment.

“Dili jud ni nako sayangan nga opportunity kay part ni sa akong recovery,” which translates to “I will never waste this opportunity because it is part of my recovery,” the beneficiary expressed.

These words encapsulate the essence of the project, offering hope, dignity, and renewed purpose to individuals striving to rebuild their lives.

Spanning 112 hours of comprehensive training, Project LABANG empowered parolees and probationers through a multi-dimensional formation program anchored on CTU’s extension agenda from LAMESA to LOKAL.

Running from March to November 2025, the initiative delivered TVL Skills Training in Industrial Arts, ICT, and Home Economics; Values and Character Formation sessions; and Academic Advocacy Initiatives focused on human development and civic responsibility.

Implemented by COED in partnership with DOJ–Cebu City PPO No. 1, the program engaged faculty and students from various degree programs: BTLED, BTVED, BEED, BECED, BSNED, BSED, MAED, and Dev.Ed.D., who served as trainers and co-facilitators across sessions.

Through mentorship and skill-building, Project LABANG fostered livelihood readiness, strengthened values, and nurtured holistic growth that empowered participants to embrace new beginnings and reintegrate as responsible, hopeful, and productive citizens.
