To reinforce inclusive and gender-focused initiatives, personnel from various offices, departments, and colleges of Cebu Technological University–Main Campus convened for the Gender and Development (GAD)-CTU Main Roadmap Planning held from December 9 to 11 in Mabolo, Cebu City.
This effort affirms the university’s dedication to integrating GAD principles that promote gender equality and inclusive, progressive programs.
In his speech, Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr., CTU Main Campus Director, emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that the roadmap planning serves as a vital step in sustaining CTU’s commitment to gender equality and inclusive development.
“This roadmap planning allows us to mirror successful initiatives, ensuring our GAD strategies remain equally impactful and sustainable over time. A gender-responsive university is not merely an aspiration; it reflects the intrinsic drive to advocate for dignity while acknowledging varying experiences based on gender,” Dr. Pajaron said.
“It is essential to engage in dialogues that highlight differences and address them strategically in our plan,” he added.
Dr. Pajaron also underscored the need for strong institutional support in shaping gender policies, stressing that GAD-related policies form part of the Commission on Audit (COA)’s review of university’s mandated 5% GAD budget allocation.
Engr. Teresita B. Capin, GAD Chairperson at CTU Main, spearheaded the three-day activity and outlined the essence of gender and development.
“GAD is the development perspective that recognizes the different roles, interests, and needs of women and men,” Engr. Capin noted.
Among the key points she highlighted was the crucial role of the educational system in shaping gender norms, promoting values, and eliminating stereotypes about the inferiority of women.
On the second day, Dr. Mary Jane C. Sim, GAD University Director, presented the GAD Plan and Budget (GBP) 2026 and called for stronger integration of gender responsiveness across the university campuses.
“When gender responsiveness is woven into all that we do, we create a university where equity becomes a lived experience. Strong GAD implementation begins with our shared commitment to mainstream gender in every initiative,” Dr. Sim expressed.
During the planning, participants actively crafted and presented their 2026 GAD Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs).
Through this initiative, CTU Main reaffirms its commitment to advancing inclusion and making gender responsiveness a cornerstone of its institutional commitment.
