Upholding inclusive education and development, Cebu Technological University (CTU) has been recognized with the “GAD Selyo sa Rehiyon Siete 2026” award, a distinction conferred by the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) Central Visayas on Wednesday, January 28.
This recognition reflects the institution’s sustained initiatives to promote gender mainstreaming under Republic Act 9710, the Magna Carta of Women, and affirms its commitment to implementing gender-sensitive and responsive programs.
Dr. Mary Jane C. Sim, University Director for Gender and Development (GAD), accepted the award at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-7 Regional Office in Cebu City.
She expressed her gratitude and emphasized the collective spirit behind the recognition.
“I am grateful to receive this award on behalf of Cebu Technological University, as this recognition reflects shared leadership, collective accountability, and a strong commitment to equity and gender responsiveness,” said Dr. Sim.
She noted CTU’s ongoing efforts in gender mainstreaming and highlighted the results of the recent Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF) assessment.
“The result revealed that there is an installation of strategic mechanisms for GAD at CTU,” she stated.
This means the institution has established clear systems, policies, and processes to mainstream gender and development across its operations.
With this, she extended her gratitude to the university administrators and heads of offices whose support has sustained GAD programs, activities, and projects.
“To our GAD Focal Point System members, thank you for your dedication and perseverance. This award strengthens our resolve to continue advancing gender mainstreaming as a responsibility to our university and the communities we serve,” Dr. Sim expressed.
The distinction attests to CTU’s leadership in advancing inclusive education and gender responsiveness, setting a benchmark for higher education institutions in Central Visayas.
