CTU Main DELS, DFIW interns take internship pledge in pinning ceremony

Cebu Technological University–Main Campus marked the transition of its English and Filipino language and literature students into teaching and industry practice as they took their internship pledge during the DELS and DFIW Pinning Ceremony on January 23, 2026, at the CebuTech Gymnatorium. The ceremony involved 190 students from the Department of English and Literary Studies (DELS) and the Departamento ng Filipino at Ibang Wika (DFIW).

The ceremony marked the students’ entry into supervised professional practice and training, serving as a rite of passage from academic preparation to real-world engagement in schools and industry settings. The pin symbolized the shift from theory to applied practice.

Anchored on the theme “Equipped, Empowered, and Pinned for Excellence,” the event gathered participants from the DELS and DFIW, along with university officials, faculty members, parents, and invited guests.

Atty. Bryner Diaz, the Division Chief of Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Office (CHAO), served as the guest speaker, delivering an address that underscored professionalism, ethical responsibility, and commitment as essential values for interns beginning their immersion in the professional workforce. CHAO is one of CTU Main’s long-standing industry partners.

The pinning proper was led by Dr. Imelda J. Villarin, Campus Dean of Instruction, together with College of Arts and Sciences Associate Dean Prof. Julius Selle and DELS Chair Dr. Mirasol S. Lim, and was assisted by faculty members and coordinators from both departments.

The internship pledge was administered during the program, formally binding the interns to uphold the standards, discipline, and values expected of student-teachers as they carry the name of CTU beyond the campus.

The program was initiated and organized by the On-the-Job Training (OJT) coordinators of the two departments. For DELS, the coordinators were Dr. Bejay Bolivar and Dr. Aida Verga Un, while Dr. Nemia Zamora served as OJT coordinator for DFIW. Their leadership ensured the smooth implementation of the ceremony and the formal induction of the interns.

The DELS and DFIW Pinning Ceremony marked a significant milestone in the interns’ academic journey, affirming their preparedness to enter the teaching field with competence, integrity, and commitment to educational service.
