Cebu Technological University–Main Campus held its first communal Sinulog celebration today, January 8, followed by the annual enthronement of the Señor Sto. Niño image outside the campus.
Held in conjunction with the opening of the Fiesta Señor Novena, the celebration aimed to deepen faith, foster unity, and promote Cebuano cultural heritage within the university community.
The program featured a Sinulog dance procession around the campus, performed by CTU–Main Indayog Cultural Dance Troupe and joined by university officials and staff, many of whom brought their own Sto. Niño images to take part in the communal expression of devotion.
The observance culminated in the ceremonial placement of the Sto. Niño image on a decorated pop-up altar outside the Administration Building, accompanied by prayers and hymns.
While the Sto. Niño devotion and altar preparation have been observed in previous years, this year marked the first time the celebration was conducted as a full communal Sinulog inside the campus, complete with coordinated dance performances. In past years, the observance was limited to the simple placement of the image and altar outside the Administration Building.
For the past three years, the College of Education (COED) has taken charge of preparing and decorating the Sto. Niño altar at the entrance of the Administration Building.
The celebration was initiated by the Office of the Campus Director, led by Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr., in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs and Services (SAS), Multi-Faith Services, COED, and the Campus Chair for Culture and Arts, with support from the Maintenance and Security offices and the CTU Drum and Bugle Corps.
