Advancing regional academic cooperation, Cebu Technological University (CTU) hosted Malaysian higher education representatives who essentialized in their campaign the ASEAN Gems, a regional initiative that collectivizes scholarship opportunities for ASEAN citizens and promotes shared access to higher education across Southeast Asia.
The dialog positioned CTU to benefit from Malaysia’s leadership in ASEAN higher education initiatives.
Coordinated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) VII, today’s discussion was layered with mobility opportunities from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UNITAR).
UTP and UNITAR delegates streamlined their need for more Filipino students , to which CTU Internationalization and ASEAN Integration (IAI) Director Rhodora Magan responded with a hopeful remark, as CTU, according to Dr. Magan needs to
mobilize its 80,000 students.
Additionally, Malaysia’s role in advancing ASEAN-led education initiatives was capitalized to highlight its resonance of regional integration through collaborative higher education frameworks.
The visit formed the platform for disseminating information on the World Education Expo (WEE) 2026 today in Cebu, organized by MSW Global.
Digital Marketing Director Shahrill Sabardin of EMGS and Dr. Magan reunited in today’s meeting, following their encounter at the AppliedHE event in Malaysia last November./IAI
