CTU concludes evaluation of Community Extension Proposals for 2026 GAA Funding

To advance extension programs attuned to national progress, Cebu Technological University (CTU) successfully concluded a five-day evaluation of community extension project proposals for the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) funding, held from January 26 to 30.

The activity aimed to rationalize the allocation of GAA funding for extension programs in line with the State Universities and Colleges (SUC) levelling instruments and performance measures, including world university rankings such as QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) and Times Higher Education, as well as the PQA (Philippine Quality Award), ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and responsiveness to community needs.

Headed by Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr., Vice President for Production, Extension, and Resource Generation (PERG), the event convened panels of evaluators from CTU and partner institutions to assess proposals across three sessions: Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Veterinary, Management and Entrepreneurship; Arts and Sciences/Education; and Engineering/Technology.

The five-day evaluation, facilitated by the University Extension Services Office, engaged extension directors, chairpersons, and project proponents and presenters, ensuring all projects are consistent with institutional mandates and attentive to community welfare.

Each day featured rubric orientation, breakout presentations, proposal assessments, and post-meeting assessments, culminating in the awarding of certificates to evaluators on the final day.

Session A was led by Dr. Sutero S. Macabudbud Jr., President of the Federation of the CTU Faculty Association; Mr. Ruel J. Rigor, Environmental Planner and Trainer for Heritage and Cultural Affairs; Dr. Lilian Bandola Nuñez of Visayas State University (VSU); and Dr. Ma. Aurora Teresita W. Tabada, Head of the Gender Resource Center at VSU.

Session B included Dr. Lynnette Matea S. Camello, University Director for Education for Sustainable Development; Dr. Aurelio P. Vilbar, Director of Ugnayan ng Pahinungod at the University of the Philippines–Cebu; and Dr. Lea Mae A. Ladonga, Junior High School Principal at the University of San Jose–Recoletos.
