Germany-based MNC sets tone for CTU as future automation training hub in the region

A German multinational corporation, FESTO Incorporated (Philippines) has Cebu Technological University poised for regional leadership in automation and mechatronics, following high-level discussions on the establishment of a Festo Technology Hub on campus.

The agreement framework, now in the pipeline, outlines a strategic partnership centered on a training facility within CTU, apart from curriculum alignment, international immersion, and industry-grade laboratory development.

FESTO operates in more than 60 countries and is known for its innovations in pneumatic and electric automation systems, smart manufacturing technologies, and advanced training platforms. It is also a long-standing partner of WorldSkills International, supporting global technical skills competitions and workforce development programs.

Through its Philippine operations, FESTO aims to deepen its engagement with institutions that demonstrate strong potential in engineering and industrial technology. CTU’s expanding trajectory in mechatronics and applied automation places it in a strategic position within the region and even beyond.

To maximize support for CTU, FESTO representatives shared how the company is working in partnership with Hexatronics, which will address the university’s didactic and technical training requirements.

The envisioned Technology Hub is not merely a laboratory installation but a capacity-building platform. It is designed to integrate industry-standard automation systems directly into academic instruction, giving students exposure to real-world industrial processes while strengthening faculty competencies in emerging technologies.

Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Romeo Montecillo, Internationalization and ASEAN Integration Director Dr. Rhodora Magan and College of Technology Dean Dr. Janice Alivio informed the dialog today with the university’s future ally./IAI
