LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA — The Nation Builder (NB), the official student publication of Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus, emerged as a major winner at Punlaan 2026, a press conference competition held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), after securing the championship in News Writing and several placements in other categories.
Adolben Malabago Jr., NB’s Editor-in-Chief and a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Mathematics student, was declared Champion in News Writing for the tertiary category, leading CTU’s strong performance in the competition and bringing pride to the university.
CTU also earned multiple awards in various categories: Jhason James Rosel, a first-year BS Development Communication student, placed 4th in Photojournalism, while Rich Anne Torres, also a first-year student from BS DevCom, secured 6th Place in Editorial Writing. The team also achieved 3rd Place in Pagsulat ng Script under the Multimedia Competition category.
The delegation included nine student journalists: Jafia Verdida, Denis Magno Jr., Isiah Jade Ligas, Darwin Tabañag, Lawrence Godinez, Rich Anne Torres, Kirby Kim Baylon, Adolben Malabago Jr., and Jhason James Rosel, mentored by Prof. Junas Flores and Prof. Grace Gay Cabellon.
Punlaan 2026 gathered campus journalists from different universities across the country to compete in various journalism and multimedia categories, aiming to showcase students’ excellence in campus press and media production.
