CTU Expert serves as Resource Person for Digital Soil Mapping Training

To boost sustainable agriculture through geospatial innovation, Dr. Jeremy P. Mondejar of Cebu Technological University-Barili Campus, shared his expertise as a resource person for the Digital Soil Mapping Training led by the Department of Agriculture (DA)–Regional Field Office VIII on March 3-6, in Maasin City.

During the four-day training, Dr. Mondejar introduced agricultural and technical personnel in the region to the practical application of predictive digital soil mapping using open-source geospatial platforms, integrated with artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Participants were trained to process environmental covariates, analyze spatial relationships, and generate predictive soil maps that can support precision agriculture and land-use planning.

The activity forms part of the DA’s Sustainable Community-Based Action R4DE for Livelihood Enhancement, Upliftment, and Prosperity (SCALE UP) Program.

Through this initiative, the university bolsters regional knowledge transfer, strengthens research collaboration, and advances geospatial technologies for sustainable agriculture./ICPA-CTU Barili
