Japanese students cap academic roadshow at CTU San Francisco

An early boat ride set the tone for the final leg of the three-day academic engagement of Futo Hayakumo and Soya Eiraku from Tukoshima’s Kamiyama Marugoto College (KMC), as they arrived at Cebu Technological University San Francisco in Camotes Island.

The visit capped a learning exchange that earlier brought the pair to Cebu City and Moalboal. More than 100 students welcomed Futo and Soya who shared their cultural backgrounds and student life in Japan. The discussion also opened space for talks on community involvement within the Philippine learning ecosystem.

Campus Director Dr. Jonita Literatus and Internationalization and ASEAN Integration (IAI) Chair Dr. Vincent Borres streamlined the campus’ specialized focus on fisheries education. Coming from a country recognized as one of the world’s leaders in the fishing industry, the delegates showed particular interest in the demonstrations. They observed practical activities including fishnet making, fish boning, and milkfish cultivation.

Beyond the campus, the delegates experienced one of the island’s white-sand beach resorts as well as Lake Danao, the second-largest lake in the Philippines. A testament to expanding meaningful global partnerships, the engagement calibrated cross-cultural dialogue and strengthened emerging ties between CTU and KMC.

In a statement, the IAI leadership expressed hope for more inbound pathways in shaping the university’s vision of becoming a premier global learning destination.
