Cebu Technological University (CTU) reaffirmed its leadership in innovation and intellectual property after receiving the 2025 Top Utility Model Filer and 2025 Top Utility Model Agent awards from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines during the Gawad Yamang Isip (GYI) Awards Night on April 24 at Newport Performing Arts Theater.
The Top Utility Model Filer award, conferred on an individual or company with the highest number of filings for calendar year 2025, was formally accepted by OIC-University President Dr. Jonita V. Literatus, together with Ms. Christine M. Corrales, OIC-University Director for Research and Development.
Meanwhile, Engr. Ray Malonjao, ITSO Chairperson of CTU, received the 2025 Top Utility Model Agent award, along with Dr. Juvy Malonjao, OIC-ITSO Chairperson.
The event also coincided with World Intellectual Property Day, observed globally on April 26 under the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with the theme: ‘IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate!’
GYI stands as the Philippines’ premier venue for honoring intellectual property excellence and showcasing the ingenuity, creativity, and innovation of the Filipino people, with CTU serving as a vital hub of this excellence through its research, technology, and competence.
