CTU Faculty and Extensionists bag Best Paper Awards at the PAEPI IEC 2026

Cebu Technological University marks another milestone as its faculty and extensionists win Best Paper Awards at the 2026 PAEPI International Extension Conference, organized by the Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc., on April 14–17, 2026, at Tag Resort, Coron, Palawan.

With the theme, “Next-Gen Extension: Driving Socioeconomic Change for Inclusive Community Development,” the 4-day conference showcased and heralded community-driven projects penned by numerous researchers from across the country, aiming to resolve varied ecological issues in diverse sectors.

Three papers authored by CTU researchers dominated the sub-theme Engineering, Smart Analytics, and ICT, claiming the three top spots.

Dr. Naomi A. Bajao of CTU Tuburan clinched the 1st Best Paper Award for her paper titled “Longitudinal Community and Energy Resilience Outcomes of a Multi-Year Electricity Decarbonization Program in Rural Philippines.”

Dr. Jae-An S. Buhia et al. of CTU Tuburan won the 2nd Best Paper Award for their paper titled “Impact Assessment of Completed Community Extension Projects of BS in Information Technology of CTU Tuburan Campus.”

Dr. Emelie C. Villaceran of CTU Main – College of Computer, Information and Communications Technology (CICT) claimed the 3rd Best Paper Award for her paper titled “Productivity Software Proficiency for the Sitio Collaborators.”

For the sub-theme focused on Education, the 2nd Best Paper Award was conferred to Dr. Christine C. Pericano of CTU San Francisco for her paper “LAUM SA ALS: A Literacy and Livelihood Extension Program for Alternative Learning System Learners in San Francisco, Cebu.”
