Cebu Technological University (CTU) academics pursuing a doctorate degree have officially been granted eligibility to apply for Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) Elite Scholarship Program, with National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) as the host institution—one of the top five universities in Taiwan based on QS rankings.
The announcement came on the heels of the recent concession made between CTU and NSYSU to greenlight the five-year deal, in which such eligibility is the primary upshot.
Nominations are expected to be submitted by October, with results to be released in mid-February of the following year.
CTU is offered two slots, and successful applicants (nominated by the home institution and vetted by the MOE and NSYSU thereafter) will receive a monthly stipend of NTD 30,000 for up to three years.
Taiwan Education Center in the Philippines Manager Jennifer Ye, who met with CTU Director Dr. Rhodora Magan in 2022, facilitated the opportunity.
In a recent conversation between Ye and Dr. Magan, the former also hinted at a Taiwan Education Fair to be hosted at CTU this October. These developments further affirm CTU’s growing presence within Taiwan’s academic nexus./IAI
