CTU optimizes research competence via 3-day comprehensive training

Cebu Technological University brought together faculty researchers across all its campuses for a research training, titled “Data-Driven Insights: A Training on Bibliometric Analysis and Research Mapping” on April 21-23, 2026, at Diane Residences, Cebu City.

Organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Development, the workshop sought to furnish research proficiency by means of piloted exposure to fundamental analysis mechanisms.

The 3-day training was accentuated by systematically delivered discourses, divided into sessions and activities by facilitators from De La Salle University, led by Ms. Janice Peñaflor, teamed with Mr. Luis Ezra D. Cruz and Mr. Efren M. Torres, Jr.

As the primary phase of sharpening competencies, the researchers were familiarized with operating with the bibliometric and formulating research prerequisites, framing the concept map, and proceeding to set up for Scopus searching and data extraction.

As essential research tools, Biblioshiny and VOSviewer were generated and demonstrated as instruments for analysis and visualization of presentations and outputs.

The faculty researchers were then tasked to produce a bibliometric manuscript with a directed IMRaD structure in alignment with the targeted journal.

Acknowledged for its robust research, CTU streamlined mastery of analytic methods through this workshop, proving its drive to continuously excel in both the domain of science and literature./Faith Hyacinth L. Pacquiao, CTU Main-BAL Intern
