Cebu Technological University (CTU) joined the nation in commemorating the 128th Philippine Independence Day on June 12 through a solemn ceremony highlighting the Filipino values of freedom, unity, and patriotism.
The observance served as a reminder that freedom is both a privilege and a responsibility, calling on Filipinos to uphold the enduring values of sacrifice, resilience, and national solidarity that have shaped the country’s history.
In her keynote message, OIC–University President Dr. Jonita V. Literatus highlighted the importance of preserving the legacy of freedom for future generations.
“Kung magiging maganda man ang kinabukasan natin para sa susunod na henerasyon, ito ay magiging isang mahalagang kasaysayan na dapat maipaalala sa ating mga estudyante at mga guro,” Dr. Literatus said.
Her message resonated with the day’s significance, reminding the CTU community that the spirit of independence endures through collective commitment and shared purpose.
During the flag-raising ceremony, university officials, deans, office heads, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, maintenance and security staff, and students gathered in Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana attire as a symbol of national pride.
The program also featured the singing of “Bayan Ko” and “Pilipinas Kong Mahal,” patriotic songs that reflected the nation’s enduring struggle and triumph for freedom.
As part of the celebration, newly elected Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers took their oath before Campus Director Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr., reaffirming their commitment to student leadership and service.
Through the observance, CTU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering patriotism and honoring the sacrifices of Filipino heroes whose struggle for independence continues to inspire generations.
