CTU Main Campus, LMPC partner for PaTeGAYON – Cacao 7 Extension Training in Tuburan, Cebu
Supporting Tuburan’s local cacao growers, Cebu Technological University–Main Campus, in partnership with the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LMPC), conducted the extension training program “Pagsagop sa Teknolohiya sa Grupong Alayon (PaTeGAYON) – Cacao Phase 7” from May 11 to 15, 2026, at Barangay 5, Poblacion, Tuburan, Cebu.
With the theme “Pagpalambo sa Cacao ug Agribusiness,” the initiative gathered 30 beneficiaries from the local cacao industry value chain for a 40‑hour intensive training.
The program featured CTU resource speakers and invited experts, including Dr. Renissa S. Quiñones, Dr. Hubert G. Quiñones, Dr. Vincent J. Igot, Dr. Leahlou E. Narvios, Prof. Romeo C. Lanzaderas, Prof. Richio M. Salibay, Prof. Jhomae B. Isoto, and invited speakers Chef Grace C. Aquino (Dahlia Chocolates), Mr. Rey Reroma (Business Digitalization Adviser, International Trade Center), and Mr. Jan Navarro (Advisor, ITC/JN Cacao).
Through a combination of lectures, interactive demonstrations, and hands-on activities, participants strengthened their competencies in cacao farm production, post-harvest processing (fermentation, drying, bean grading), Integrated Financial Strategies and Entrepreneurship, digitalization of business operations, biodiversity protection, cacao-inspired fluid art, packaging and branding, and even cacao foot spa therapy. The training also integrated values formation through the BUUT (How to be Happy?) perspective.
This initiative directly supports CTU’s vision as a premier, inclusive, globally recognized, community-responsive, and sustainable technological university.
By equipping growers and processors with both technical mastery and business acumen, PaTeGAYON – Cacao 7 reinforces the synergistic convergence of academe, industry, and government agencies in building resilient, sustainable cacao communities across the region.
