Affirming Cebu Technological University’s commitment to global excellence, Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. was formally conferred the prestigious International Professional Engineer (IntPE) designation during the 1st International Professional Engineer Conferment Ceremony held on May 23 at UP Village, Diliman, Quezon City.
Dr. Ancheta, SUC Vice President IV and the VP for Production, Extension, and Resource Generation (PERG), was among 102 Filipino engineers from various disciplines inducted into the International Professional Engineers Register. The conferees comprise the first batch of Filipino engineers to receive the globally recognized credential.
The IntPE designation signifies international recognition of an engineer’s professional competence, extensive industry and academic experience, ethical practice, and commitment to continuing professional development.
Organized by the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) in partnership with the International Professional Engineers Register Philippines, the ceremony highlighted the country’s growing role in promoting globally aligned engineering standards and professional mobility.
With the theme, “Upholding Excellence and Integrity in Engineering,” the event featured conferees who represented diverse engineering fields including chemical, civil, computer, electrical, electronics, industrial, mechanical and metallurgical engineering.
Dr. Ancheta, a Washington Accord accreditor, ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer, and APEC Engineer, earned the designation after successfully completing a rigorous evaluation process. The assessment included documentary validation of engineering practice, professional competency review, and a panel interview conducted by the Engineering Registers Board of the PTC.
His conferment reflects CTU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen outcomes-based engineering education and expand international accreditation initiatives through its flagship engineering and technology programs. The university’s College of Engineering is also set to collaborate with the PTC through the Washington Accord Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (ACBET).
During the ceremony, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Desiderio Apag III, himself a Professional Engineer, underscored the significance of the PTC’s achievement as a full signatory to the Washington Accord, a milestone that further elevates the international standing of Philippine engineering education and practice.
This recognition highlights CTU’s continuing pursuit of international credibility and professional distinction, thereby upholding its pursuit of producing globally competitive engineers and leaders./Jhevey Yan R. Sadio, CTU Main BAL Intern
