The Commission on Higher Education–Innovation Blueprint Project (CHED-IBP) Research Team visited Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus on July 8, 2026, to benchmark the university’s best practices in research, innovation, technology development, and commercialization.
Led by CHED-IBP Research Team Project Leader Rec E. Eguia, the activity forms part of the Development of the Innovation Blueprint for Higher Education in the Philippines, a national initiative aimed at developing a data-driven and evidence-based roadmap to strengthen research technology development, innovation, and commercialization in higher education institutions.
The event brought together university officials, including Vice President for Research and Development Dr. Pet Roey L. Pascual and Vice President for Production, Extension, and Resource Generation (PERG) Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr.
Also in attendance were representatives from the Research and Development Office, Extension Office, Technology Transfer and Business Management Office (TTBM), Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), Technology Business Incubator (TBI), and Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab), along with research center directors, college representatives, and faculty researchers.
Officials from the Department of Trade and Industry Cebu Provincial Office and CTU industry partners also joined the discussions on collaboration, innovation, and technology commercialization.
The benchmarking activity examined CTU’s institutional policies, governance structures, initiatives, and best practices across six pillars of the innovation continuum: discovery, technology development, product development, technology transfer, funding structure, and the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Through the activity, the CHED-IBP Research Team documented CTU’s practices and initiatives that may contribute to the development of the national innovation blueprint for Philippine higher education.
