To promote digital citizenship and responsible social media use, Cebu Technological University-Main Campus (CTU Main), through its College of Education, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Mohon (Divino Amore) National High School on June 25 for the implementation of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Advocacy for Nation-building through Active Social Media Literacy (HANAS) extension program.
HANAS aims to equip senior high school students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become responsible digital citizens and ethical social media users.
The project is led by Dr. Limuel J. Abelgas of the College of Education, with Dr. Danilo F. Cebe and Dr. Charisma G. Lumayag serving as project team members.
The program will run from January to December 2026 in partnership with Mohon (Divino Amore) NHS under the leadership of Dr. Ma. Angelique Lauronilla, Public Schools District Supervisor, and School Principal Dr. Johnas A. Villaver, with the participation of selected teachers and HUMSS students.
Recognizing the growing influence of digital platforms on young people, CTU Main’s partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) underscores the importance of strengthening media literacy, civic responsibility, and critical thinking in addressing misinformation and promoting responsible online behavior.
The program is anchored on the theme, “Digital Voices for Change: Strengthening Youth Responsibility, Civic Engagement, and Nation-Building through Social Media Literacy,” which seeks to empower Filipino youth to become responsible and ethical digital citizens.
