GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT | Int’l design tilt finalists arrive in China

CTU Graphics and design (GD) students Trisha Mae Bretaña and Mary Therese Abadilla, alongside College of Technology Dean Dr. Janice Alivio and GD chair Asst. Prof. Montecillo, arrived yesterday for the final round of the 2026 China-ASEAN SEAMEO Creative Merchandise Design Competition in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, People’s Republic of China.

As of late, Dr. Alivio shared in a statement with the Internationalization and ASEAN Integration leadership that they have just finished the required practices before heading to the final platform.

The students are on a fully funded mobility by China-based organization Go Study Global Education, CTU’s long-time ally. The academics have also been gifted the partial funding.

The platform forms part of the 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. One of its highlights is product creation that utilizes Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) technologies to support and enhance the design process, with a focus on ASEAN-related themes, including culture, educational cooperation, and sustainable development.

Outstanding works are evaluated in terms of cultural integration, innovation and originality, practicality and feasibility, and brand alignment.

The activity seeks to advance the goals of the China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the Belt and Road Initiative, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, and the ASEAN-China Centre.

Institutions contributing to the event include Guizhou Polytechnic of Construction, Bijie Industry Polytechnic College, Guizhou Aerospace Vocational and Technical College, Qiandongnan Polytechnic College, Guangxi XUE ER SHI XING Commerce & Exhibition Co., Ltd., and Prism (Guangzhou) Digital Technology Co., Ltd.

CTU’s partnership with GoStudy, first sealed in 2022, has recently been reactivated, concretized in the University’s footprint in China yet again.
