Extension chairpersons and project proponents of Cebu Technological University strengthened their capacity to transform extension initiatives into publishable scientific manuscripts during the 2026 University-wide Seminar-Workshop on Translating Extension Work into Scientific Journal Publications held from June 29 to 30.
The two-day seminar-workshop featured lectures and hands-on sessions designed to bridge extension work, research, and scientific publication.
Discussions covered research-driven university excellence, the transformation of extension terminal reports into publishable manuscripts, journal targeting, Scopus indexing, and artificial intelligence-assisted manuscript development.
The workshop also included a manuscript writeshop, peer review, and submission clinic.
By the end of the workshop, each participant had developed at least one submission-ready manuscript and identified up to three potential research outputs.
The sessions were led by Dr. Don Eliseo III Lucero-Prisno, founder of Global Health Focus and chief scientific officer of GHF University Excellence; Jericho Ogaya, national program manager of GHF University Excellence; and Gabriel Albis, training facilitator.
Facilitated by the University Extension Office, the activity was also attended by Vice President for Production, Extension, and Resource Generation Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. and University Director for Education for Sustainable Development Dr. Lynnette Matea S. Camello.
The seminar‑workshop supports CTU’s 2026 Research and Extension Agenda by strengthening faculty and extension personnel’s capacity to convert community engagement into publishable scholarly work.
Aligned with university’s strategic priorities, the initiative advances research productivity, reputable journal publications, and the visibility and impact of extension programs through collaboration, research‑based extension, and systematic documentation.
