CTU, Ermita, CVCCO Sustain Menopause Program for Third Year

Reaffirming their pledge to support the health and well‑being of menopausal women and to foster broader community awareness, Cebu Technological University–Main Campus, Barangay Ermita, and the CVCCO Multi‑Purpose Cooperative signed a Memorandum of Agreement on July 9, marking the third year of the KAPEHAN SA KABABAYEN‑AN Menopause Program.

Since its inception, the program has evolved into a multi‑year community initiative that raises awareness, breaks stigma, promotes wellness, and builds sustainable community support for women in menopause.

Held at the CVCCO Board Room in Carbon Market, the MOA signing gathered partners and 31 women beneficiaries united in sustaining this five‑year initiative.

The event was attended by Hon. Mark Rizaldy V. Miral, Barangay Captain of Ermita; Ma. Victoria C. Abellana, Chair of the CVCCO Board; Shirley R. Cardinez, CVCCO Board Member and GAD Chair; Viola C. Batobalonos, CVCCO Manager.

Representing CTU was Project Leader Dr. Reah G. Fabrica, joined by Prof. Junas D. Flores, Dr. Michelle P. Trangia, Dr. Glenn L. Trajano, Prof. Adeline P. Dela Cruz, Prof. Eva Jonah Mari H. Enojas, Dr. Charena B. Castro, Prof. Grace Gay B. Cabellon, and Dr. Mary Jane V. Tabasa.

For 2026, the program introduces W.O.M.E.N. 3.0: Narratives of Change: A Journal-Based Approach to Menopause Self-Management: Writing for Observation, Monitoring, Empowerment, and Navigation of Menopause, emphasizing that healing extends beyond medical interventions.

Through guided journaling and reflective writing, participants are encouraged to observe bodily changes, monitor symptoms and emotions, document personal experiences, and reflect on their journey toward self-understanding.

W.O.M.E.N. 3.0 aims to produce reflective menopause journals capturing women’s lived experiences in Barangay Ermita for research, extension, and policy use, while enhancing knowledge, strengthening self‑management, improving emotional well‑being, and fostering peer support. Ultimately, it envisions a sustainable community model for menopause education, empowering beneficiaries as advocates and mentors to broaden awareness.

Through collaboration among the university, local government, the cooperative sector, and women themselves, KAPEHAN SA KABABAYEN‑AN affirms that lasting change begins when women gain knowledge, support, and the opportunity to transform their stories into narratives of empowerment.
