Cebu Technological University (CTU) took part in the landmark Regional Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing on August 12 at a hotel in Mandaue City, which formalized the Cebu Convergence initiative.
The partnership unites the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Region 7, Commission on Higher Education (CHED), academic institutions, and industry partners in launching PQF Level 5 diploma programs in semiconductors, manufacturing, and allied fields starting Academic Year 2026–2027.
Led by TESDA Director General Sec. Jose Francisco ‘Kiko’ Benitez and CHED Region VII, the initiative strengthens the ladderized pathway from technical‑vocational training to diploma and college education, preparing a future‑ready workforce with industry‑aligned skills and competencies.
Representing CTU were OIC‑University President Dr. Jonita V. Literatus, Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Romeo P. Montecillo, CTU Main Campus Director Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr., CTU Argao Campus Director Dr. Eingilbert C. Benolirao, Dr. Glicerio A. Baguia, OIC‑Campus Director of CTU‑Ginatilan Extension Campus, and Dean of the College of Technology Dr. Janice A. Alivio.
In line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen talent development and support the national goal of producing 128,000 semiconductor engineers and technicians by 2028, the Cebu Convergence formalizes a shared commitment to advance education and industry development in the region.
By bridging technical‑vocational training with degree pathways and aligning curricula with industry leaders, CTU affirms its mission to prepare a highly skilled, future‑ready workforce for global demands.
