CTU’s Project ESKOLAR adopted by Cebu Caritas as banner program for human development formation

Cebu Technological University (CTU) has achieved a landmark milestone as Cebu Caritas, Inc. formally adopted Project ESKOLAR (Embracing Struggles, Keep On Learning, Adapt Resiliently) as its banner program for Human Development Formation, positioning the university’s initiative as a strategic framework for youth scholars under the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP).

Project ESKOLAR, a three‑year General Appropriations Act (GAA)‑funded community extension initiative, was recognized for its significant contribution along with its copyrighted training manual, “Resilience in the Age of AI: Nurturing Grit and Embracing Mistakes for Human Formation.”

Project Leader Dr. Melona C. Deguma, faculty member of the College of Education under the BSED–Values Education program, received the Certificate of Commendation from Cebu Caritas President Rev. Fr. Alex K. Cola, Jr. on Tuesday, August 18.

Anchored on Dr. Deguma’s Scopus‑indexed research, the manual exemplifies CTU’s deliberate continuum from empirical scholarship to instructional innovation and community application, affirming the University’s ability to transform academic knowledge into practical formation programs.

The adoption elevates Project ESKOLAR beyond its origins as a three‑year GAA‑funded extension initiative, establishing it as a sustainable and replicable model for resilience, values formation, and psychological development among contemporary learners.

This milestone marks a defining contribution to CTU’s pursuit of academic excellence and social responsiveness, underscoring that higher education achieves its fullest purpose when knowledge is transformed into resilience, capability, and meaningful societal change.
