GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT  | Saskatchewan postdoctoral fellow talks water, energy, and sustainability

Following his arrival yesterday, Iranian Postdoctoral Research Fellow Eskandar Poorasgari of Canada’s  University of Saskatchewan did a  lecture  and a roundtable discussion today on water/energy conservation and management at Cebu Technological University (CTU) Argao.

His ideas  also veered toward environmental sustainability and recycling, contextualized in the  Philippines  and the broader Association of Southeast Asian (ASEAN) region, in commemoration of the 59th ASEAN Founding Anniversary.

Poorasgari’s week-long multi-campus itinerary includes Moalboal, Danao, Carmen and Main to assess campus laboratories and research facilities supporting water and wastewater treatment research and innovation and fulfill faculty consultation sessions.

On the final day, the Iranian  will meet with  the CTU  Internationalization and ASEAN Integration Director Dr. Rhodora Magan for prospective faculty/student exchanges and more funding opportunities for research and other mobilities.

More than a visiting research engagement, the water scientist’s presence  deepens CTU’s commitment to structurizing concrete models addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Dr. Magan said.

Argao IAI Chair Dr. Rosalyn Alburo said participants warmly received the scholar and engaged deeply with his expertise.

Dr. Poorasgari, meanwhile, told Dr. Magan that Argao’s hospitality had been nothing short of excellent. “I am really inspired by the spirit of the faculty members here.”/IAI
