First-year students from the College of Technology (COT) at Cebu Technological University-Main Campus attended yesterday’s orientation on guidance services and initiatives supporting their well‑being, personal growth, and overall college experience.
Facilitated by the Guidance Office in collaboration with the Student Affairs and Services Office, the event, titled ‘Guided to Thrive: Getting to Know the Guidance Services and RACE to Save Lives: Empowering Minds through Suicide Awareness and Prevention,’ advanced suicide‑prevention awareness by encouraging open dialogue, underscoring the value of seeking help, and fostering a supportive environment where individuals feel heard and valued.
Dean of Student Affairs and Services Arch. Ann Frances P. Cabigon expressed her full support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of programs that address students’ concerns and contribute to their welfare and development.
Meanwhile, Guidance Services Specialist Dr. Josephine A. Villa urged students to join workshops and seminars, maximize available guidance services, and affirmed the office’s commitment to supporting them through their academic journey.
“Our purpose is to journey with you toward your goal of finishing college,” Dr. Villa said.
The orientation reinforced CTU’s commitment to student welfare by raising awareness of available support, encouraging students to seek guidance, and affirming that reaching out reflects strength and the right to receive help./Mary Cris Butal Custodio, BSFIL Intern
