Upholding its commitment to environmental stewardship, Cebu Technological University (CTU)–Main Campus joined the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (CCCI) Flood Hero Movement on August 10 through the installation of a PET bottle receptacle bin on campus.
The bin will remain on campus throughout August 2026, offering the university community a tangible opportunity to participate in the initiative while fostering greater environmental consciousness and collective action.
Spearheaded by CCCI, the Flood Hero Movement advocates responsible plastic waste management and community-driven solutions to mitigate urban flooding.
The installation was witnessed by key CCCI and CTU officials, namely CCCI Executive Director Ms. Joy Lorena Amador‑Segismar; CCCI Partnership Associate Mr. Joefrel P. Alipin; CTU Main Campus Director Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron; Pollution Control Officer Dr. Ve Leslie E. Atanoza; and Campus Safety Officer Dr. Leoncio Lucero.
PET bottle receptacle bins at CTU Main Campus stand as visible reminders of shared responsibility in reducing plastic pollution and mitigating urban flooding, encouraging students, faculty, and staff to practice proper waste segregation and responsible disposal.
Beyond waste reduction, the initiative seeks to mobilize communities toward practical, collective action in combating the dual threats of plastic accumulation and urban flooding.
By participating in this initiative, CTU underscores its dedication to sustainability and its proactive role in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
