Barangay Pusok Sitio Collaborators Strengthen Document Processing Skills Through CTU Extension Initiative

To strengthen digital competencies among sitio collaborators, Cebu Technological University–Main Campus, through its College of Computer, Information and Communications Technology (CCICT), successfully concluded the Productivity Software Proficiency: Document Processing project for Barangay Pusok, Lapu‑Lapu City yesterday, September 25.

This initiative, the second phase of the Productivity Software Proficiency for Sitio Collaborators extension program launched in 2024, sought to advance digital proficiency among sitio collaborators by enhancing their document processing skills.

Beneficiaries were trained in using Microsoft Word on mobile devices and applying Mail Merge techniques to efficiently prepare letters, reports, and documents involving multiple records. Such competencies aim to boost effectiveness in community service.

Implemented by the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) faculty of the CCICT, the project began on April 10, 2025. Its culmination was attended by extension team members, beneficiaries, and community partners, celebrating the program’s impact.

The initiative was supported by Hon. Ranulfo G. Emperio, Barangay Captain of Pusok, and led by Dr. Emelie C. Villaceran, OIC‑PERG Chair, Project Leader, and Extension Specialist.

Dr. Villaceran was joined by BSIS faculty extension team, including Dr. Jose Maria S. Garcia, CCICT Dean and Training Specialist; Dr. Gerry Ritz R. Densing, Associate Dean of CCICT and Training Specialist; Dr. Noreen B. Fuentes, BSIS Chair and Training Specialist; Dr. Janeth S. Ugang, Dr. Angelbert P. Maghanoy, Dr. Gibe S. Tirol, and Prof. John Rey E. Furtos, who also served as training specialists throughout the project.

BSIS students also played a vital role by assisting in training sessions and providing technical support.

With this milestone, CTU reaffirms its commitment to community empowerment through technology‑driven extension programs that advance digital literacy, productivity, and lifelong learning.
