The Sentro ng Wika at Kultura (Center of Language and Culture) of Cebu Technological University is one of the regional centers of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (Commission on the Filipino Language), the government institution tasked to lead, regulate, develop, and preserve the Filipino language alongside the Philippine regional languages across the country.
CTU’s Sentro is specifically mandated to deliver the following:
- Manguna at lumahok sa pagsusulong ng mga katangiang pangkultura ng pook (bayan, lalawigan, o rehiyon) na kinalalagyan nitó.
“Initiate and participate in the promotion of all cultural endeavors of the place (town/city, province, or region) where the Sentro is established.”
- Manguna at magsagawa ng mga proyekto sasaliksik, pagdiriwang, pag-aaral, at eksibisyon ng wika at kultura ng naturang pook.
“Lead and develop research projects, celebrations, studies, and exhibits on language and culture of the said locality.”
- Manguna at magsagawa ng saliksik sa larang akademiko gaya ng agham panlipunan, agham pangkalikasan, at matematika sa wikang Filipino, at sikaping makatulong sa bagay na ito ang yunit saliksik ng unibersidad o kolehiyo.
“Lead and undertake research projects across disciplines such as social studies, natural sciences, and mathematics in Filipino language, and ensure their usefulness in research units of the college or university.”
- Makipagtulungan sa mga lalawigan, rehiyon, o bayan sa loob ng kinaroroonang unibersidad lalo na sa mga kapisanang pang-estudyante at pangguro, mga kolehiyo at sentro para sa ibang larang akademiko, alumni association, PTA, at katulad.
“Coordinate with the province, region, or town/city where the University is situated especially the student and teacher organizations, colleges and centers in all academic fields, alumni association, PTA, and the like.”
- Magtatag ng matalik na ugnayan at pakikipagtulungan sa mga institusyon sa loob at labas ng paaralan, rehiyon, lalawigan, at bayan gaya sa DepEd, CHED, TESDA, DOT, NCIP, DILG, samahang masang mga katutubo, at pamahalaang lokal sa pamamagitan ng Indigenous People’s Mandatory Representative (IPMR), tungo sa katuparan ng mga adhika pangwika at pangkultura nitó.
“Establish strong linkages and assistance to institutions within and outside of the University, region, province, and city/town such as DepEd, CHED, TESDA, DOT, NCIP, DILG, alliance of indigenous peoples, and local government thru the Indigenous People’s Mandatory Representative (IPMR), leading to the realization of their cultural and linguistic aspirations.”
- Magtaguyod sa lahat ng kampanya at proyekto ng KWF, lalo na sa pagpapalaganap ng wikang Filipino at sa pangangalaga sa kapakanan ng mga guro sa Filipino.
“Support all campaigns and projects of the KWF, especially in the propagation of the Filipino language and in the upliftment of the welfare of the teachers of Filipino.”
- Mangasiwa ng mga aktibidad para sa KWF, gaya ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika, Araw ni Balagtas, mga kumperensiya at pagsasanay ng mga guro, seminar, palihan, gawad, timpalak, at katulad para sa pagpapalaganap ng wikang Filipino nang may kaukulang pahintulot ng KWF.
“Supervise activities for the KWF, such as Buwan ng Wika, Araw ni Balagtas, conferences, training for the teachers, seminar, contests, grant, competition, and the like.
Presently, the Sentro is situated in the Main Campus headed by Dr. Christian Ray C. Licen. Other centers of language and culture by the KWF in Region VII are established in the University of San Carlos and Cebu Normal University.
