In a powerful move to strengthen the nationโs literacy efforts, Cebu Technological University (CebuTech) โ Argao, in proud partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 7, has launched the TARA BASA Tutoring Program. At the heart of this initiative is the strong and meaningful immersion of CebuTech volunteer tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) in a comprehensive training process, ensuring they are well-equipped to spark a love for learning and a deep sense of service among young readers.
Demonstrating CebuTech Argaoโs unwavering commitment to community engagement and nation-building, the programโs training sessions emphasized hands-on learning, literacy strategies, and child-centered teaching approaches. Through dynamic workshops, simulation activities, and mentoring from literacy experts, CebuTech Elementary Education fourth year and BS Psychology students volunteers gained vital skills to effectively support struggling readers and help uplift communities.
Beyond preparing tutors for literacy instruction, the TARA BASA Program at CebuTech Argao instills the true spirit of volunteerism โ fostering leadership, compassion, and a shared mission to build a brighter future for every Filipino child. With CebuTech Argao at the forefront, the journey toward a more literate and empowered society is well underway.

As the 45 BEED and 27 BS Psychology students gear up to begin their upcoming 20 days sessions in the selected or identified elementary schools (communities) of Argao which will commence in May until June , they carry with them not only knowledge and skills but also a profound sense of purpose and social responsibility.
