CTU -AC College of Education Holds 3-Day Midyear In-Service Training a Jumpstart for Academic Year 2025–2026.
CoEd Mentors successfully conducted a three-day Midyear In-Service Training (INSET) on July 28–30, 2025, at the Goldberry Hotel and Suites, Cebu City. The activity marked the college’s proactive step in jumpstarting preparations for Academic Year 2025–2026, ensuring that faculty members are equipped with the skills, tools, and aligned directions for both instruction and research excellence.
The training carried a dual purpose: to strengthen faculty competencies in competitive grant proposal writing and to finalize key academic requirements such as course syllabi, instructional materials, and policy updates for research and extension work.
Days 1–2: Winning Grants and Writing Impactful Proposals
Themed “Winning Grants: A 2-Day Intensive Workshop on Writing Competitive Research and Development Proposals,” the first two days were dedicated to enhancing faculty members’ capacity to design research and extension initiatives that are fundable, sustainable, and culturally grounded.
Renowned educator and consultant Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, President of the City College of Cagayan de Oro and UNESCO National Commission Consultant on Education for Sustainable Development, served as the keynote resource person.
Dr. Babia delivered comprehensive sessions on understanding local and international funding landscapes, crafting strong problem statements, designing project objectives and indicators, and writing competitive executive summaries. Faculty members also learned how to incorporate risk analysis, sustainability measures, and cross-cutting themes into their proposals—critical factors in securing grants.
The sessions culminated with a hands-on workshop and peer critique of proposal drafts, where participants showcased innovative and community-responsive project concepts. These outputs reflected the college’s vision of producing research initiatives that drive meaningful change in education and community development.
Day 3: Academic Preparations and Quality Assurance Directions
The final day of the INSET shifted focus to academic readiness for the new school year. Faculty members engaged in activities that underscored the importance of aligning instructional, research, and extension functions with institutional and national priorities.
Key activities included the presentation and approval of the AI Use Policy for Research Courses led by Dr. Judith A. Alegeun, COED Research Coordinator – an initiative that promotes ethical and innovative use of artificial intelligence in academic research, the Presentation and Revisiting of Course Syllabi for SY 2025–2026 facilitated by Dr. Jorelyn P. Concepcion, College Dean, ensuring that all course syllabi remain updated, outcomes-based, and responsive to 21st-century teacher education needs and Approval of the Research and Extension Agenda by Dr. Teresita C.B. Sarile, Campus Extension Chairperson, which set the research and outreach directions of the college for the coming year.
The three-day INSET demonstrated the college’s dedication to academic and institutional readiness, faculty empowerment, and continuous quality improvement. By revisiting and revising syllabi, crafting instructional materials, and aligning policies with emerging educational trends such as AI integration, the College of Education takes decisive steps to uphold its vision of providing globally competitive, community-responsive, and sustainability-driven teacher education.
