PAFTE Honors a Legacy of Leadership and a Future of Promise: Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr. and CTU Student Cindy Bryll S. Fuentes Recognized

The Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE), Inc. recently honored two individuals whose stories reflect the full arc of the teaching profession—from visionary leadership to emerging promise—through recognitions that affirm service, mentorship, and hope in Philippine education.

Recognized as a Lifetime Member of PAFTEDr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr., former President of Cebu Technological University (2015–2023) and currently the University’s Vice-President for Production, Extension, and Resource Generation, was commended for his remarkable contributions to higher education and the teaching profession. PAFTE cited his tenure as CTU President as a period marked by transformative leadership, institutional strengthening, and a deep commitment to excellence, innovation, and public service—values that continue to guide his work beyond the presidency.

At the same time, PAFTE underscored its mission of nurturing future educators through the awarding of the PAFTE Scholarship Assistance Fund to Cindy Bryll S. Fuentes, a fourth-year Bachelor of Elementary Education student of Cebu Technological University – Argao Campus. Endorsed personally by Dr. Ancheta, Ms. Fuentes was named Grantee No. 25 and awarded Php 10,000.00 in financial assistance—support that recognizes not only academic merit but also resilience, perseverance, and commitment to the teaching vocation.

In her letter of gratitude addressed to PAFTE National President Dr. Brenda B. Corpuz, Ms. Fuentes expressed profound appreciation for the organization’s generosity, sharing that the scholarship will “greatly help me continue my studies and focus on my goal of becoming a passionate and dedicated teacher.” She emphasized that beyond easing financial concerns, the assistance has given her renewed motivation “to work harder, pursue excellence, and strive to make a positive impact in the lives of my future students”

She further reflected on the deeper meaning of the award, noting that it is “inspiring to know that organizations like PAFTE recognize and support the efforts of students.” According to Ms. Fuentes, this act of support not only strengthens her academic journey but also instills in her a strong sense of responsibility to give back and serve others in the future—values she carries with gratitude and purpose as she prepares to enter the teaching profession .

Dr. Ancheta’s endorsement of Ms. Fuentes mirrors this ethos of service and mentorship. In formally recommending her for the scholarship, he highlighted her perseverance, responsibility, and determination to complete her degree despite financial challenges, expressing confidence that the support extended to her would translate into meaningful academic success and future service in education.

Together, these recognitions illustrate PAFTE’s holistic vision for the teaching profession—one that honors distinguished leadership while actively investing in the next generation of educators. Dr. Ancheta’s lifetime recognition stands as a testament to a career devoted to strengthening institutions and empowering communities, while Ms. Fuentes’ scholarship represents hope, opportunity, and the transformative power of belief.

As PAFTE continues to champion excellence in education, the shared moment of recognition between mentor and scholar serves as a powerful reminder: the legacy of great leaders lives on not only in institutions they build, but in the lives of students they uplift—and in the teachers those students are inspired to become. | FCKintanar
