CTU Bantayan Holds Seminar on Anti-Sexual Harassment, Safe Space and Human Trafficking

A seminar titled “Anti-Sexual Harassment, Safe Space, and Human Trafficking” was held at CTU-Bantayan Covered Court on February 10, 2023. 

The seminar was organized by Dr. Marjorie L. Zanoria, the OJT Chairman and GAD Coordinator of CTU-Bantayan Extension Campus, and hosted by Mr. Lloyd Cymbeline C. Orbeta. 

The seminar discussed the importance of creating a safe and respectful workplace environment, particularly preventing sexual harassment. The speaker, Dr. Marjorie L. Zanoria, discussed the different forms of sexual harassment and how to prevent it by creating a clear sexual harassment policy and complaint procedure. Dr. Zanoria also discussed the importance of creating safe spaces in schools, workplaces, and public areas and preventing discrimination and violence in public areas, particularly against women, children, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The seminar concluded with a question and answer session, awarding of a certificate to the Resource Speaker, and a closing statement by Ms. Jocelle Marie C. Tiongzon.

The activity was crucial to the BSIT students’ preparation for their upcoming On-the-Job Training in the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023. The series of seminars conducted for the interns aimed to equip them interns with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the real world of work. This initiative is essential to help the students gain practical experience, enhance their professional skills, and prepare them for the demands and challenges of the industry.
