
On May 3, 2023, the Cebu Technological University โ Bantayan Extension held a post-celebration seminar for National Women’s Month in its Smart Room. Miss Naome C. Pastrana hosts the program.
Miss Julie Marie C. Sonido, a BSHM and COTE faculty, delivered the statement of purpose, emphasizing women’s significant contributions and achievements. She highlighted the importance of empowering women and promoting gender equality, stressing the need to recognize and celebrate women’s accomplishments. The seminar aimed to provide a platform for women to learn and grow under the guidance of experienced speakers and instructors.
Miss Joy Marie Layao, a BTLED and COED faculty, acknowledged the attendees, including 32 instructors from the College of Technology and Engineering (COTE), seven instructors from the College of Education (COED), and eight staff members. Miss Charena P. Cueva, a BSIT and COTE faculty, introduced the seminar’s speaker, Prof. Llanabelle O. Llaรฑohan, a certified yoga instructor.
Prof. Llaรฑohan shared her background and how she began practicing yoga in 2015. She explained that yoga is a holistic detox and a tool for mindfulness, not just an exercise. She emphasized the importance of relaxation and breathing techniques in achieving mindfulness. The participants were led in a yoga session that began with stretching using yoga poses and breathing techniques. Core yoga poses were introduced, leaving the participants feeling energized and rejuvenated.
Prof. Girlie F. Fariola, the Bantayan Extension Campus Director, and Prof. Marjorie L. Zanoria, the GAD Coordinator, presented Prof. Llaรฑohan with a certificate of recognition for her active involvement in the seminar.
The participants expressed gratitude for the knowledge and skills they gained from the workshop. Miss Geriemay Giltendez, a BSFi and COTE faculty, delivered the closing remarks, encouraging the participants to continue practicing the relaxation and breathing techniques they learned. She emphasized the importance of mindfulness and self-care in achieving personal growth and empowerment.
