The students, faculty, and staff of the Barili campus gathered at the campus’ covered court on February 14, 2023, to participate in the fire and earthquake drill organized by the College of Technology and Management (CTM) in collaboration with the campus Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM).
The Barili Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) marshals led the event by giving valuable theoretical and practical lessons about fire and earthquakes.
During the morning session, a lecture introducing the nature and rigor of BFP and fire classification was discussed. The afternoon session continues with lectures on valuable reminders and steps on what to do whenever fire and earthquake occur through a discussion on the six steps to safety. In addition to the lecture is how to properly handle and use a fire extinguisher in putting out a fire whenever a kind of emergency occurs.
On matters of practicality, after the lecture sessions, the fire and earthquake drill commenced. An actual simulation was conducted where volunteers from the audience had first-hand experience putting out the fire and were trained to ‘drop, cover, and hold’ on the earthquake drill procedure.
The fire and earthquake seminar and drill is one of the many activities prepared by CTM in celebration of CTM Week, where the remaining activities were participated solely by the CTM students.
