The Cebu Technological University (CTU) – Barili Chapter of the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers – Pre-Professional Group (PSABE-PPG) has come together to celebrate World Engineering Day thru a tree planting activity on March 4, 2023, at CTU-Barili Campus.
Faculty and students from the Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IABE) headed by Engr. Jeremy P. Mondejar participated in this undertaking. Engr. Josephine Manigos, one of CTU-Barili’s first agricultural engineering graduates and the campus’ very first agricultural engineering board passer, also graced and joined the activity.
The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) – Barili, headed by Evangeline S. Alsong, sponsored and brought the 120 seedlings of Soursop, Java Rose Apple, and Cranberries planted on the identified planting area inside CTU Barili premises.
Also, the tree-growing initiative is a part of MENRO’s greening program, which aims to uphold and nurture the municipality’s clean and green environment.
This year’s World Engineering Day theme is ‘Engineering innovation for a more resilient world.’ The organized tree-growing activity aims to raise awareness about the importance of reforestation and biodiversity preservation in mitigating the effects of climate change and strengthening ecosystem resilience.
