Veterinary Medicine students of CTU Barili Campus marched on stage with their proud parents on March 13, 2023, at the campus’ covered court during the College of Veterinary Medicine’s pinning and coating ceremony.
The pinning ceremony aims to recognize the students who have passed the preparatory vet (pre-vet) and are now advancing to the four-year veterinary proper. Meanwhile, the coating ceremony seeks to recognize the students who will be training as clinicians – where students are exposed to clinical duties and applications of their general knowledge.
Not all universities offering Doctor of Veterinary Medicine holds this kind of ceremony. According to Dr. Serafin Garciano, Jr., Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, this kind of ceremony gives importance to the student’s educational journey.
‘The pinning and coating ceremony inspires the students with their studies. It also gives them the pride to be acknowledged by their parents for their hard work as students.’ Dr. Garciano, Jr. said.
Overall, 83 VetMed students, 29 third-year students, 34 from the 4th year level, and 20 fifth-year students were recognized during the ceremony.
Moreover, the students took an oath after the pinning and coating ceremony.
CTU officials, the CVM faculty, the recent VetMed board passers, and the guest speakers witnessed and graced the event.
