The Research and Development (R&D) Office at CTU Barili, under the leadership of R&D Director Engr. Jeremy P. Mondejar organized a dynamic Research Writeshop themed ‘Empowering Research and Instruction through Artificial Intelligence.’ The event occurred on May 18-19, 2023, at the Biotech Center Conference Room.
Over two days, the primary objective of the writeshop was to delve into and introduce faculty members to the vast potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, enabling them to enhance their research and instructional capabilities. Various AI tools were showcased, including AI research assistant tools such as Elicit and ResearchRabbit. Additionally, paraphrasing tools like QuillBot and Wordtune, plagiarism checkers like Copyleaks and ZeroGPT, citation software like Mendeley, and other AI tools designed for research and instruction were also explored.
The first day of the writeshop was dedicated to interactive discussions, allowing participants to explore and understand the diverse applications of AI tools. Engaging in meaningful conversations, faculty members gained insights into how AI can revolutionize their research and instructional practices.
On the second day, the focus shifted towards the presentation of outputs. Participants showcased their draft research proposals and instructional materials, all created utilizing AI tools. This hands-on experience gave attendees practical knowledge on incorporating AI into their work, enabling them to embrace cutting-edge technologies in their respective fields.
The writeshop welcomed a select group of faculty members who had registered for the event. Their active participation contributed to a vibrant and collaborative environment, fostering the exchange of ideas and experiences among colleagues.
The CTU Barili R&D Office’s initiative to spearhead this research writeshop marks a significant step towards integrating AI in academic pursuits. By equipping faculty members with the necessary knowledge and resources, CTU Barili aims to enhance research and instructional practices, ultimately advancing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
